Building bridges between high schoolers and creative industries.

The LensBright Community Network was created to provide points of connection between passionate high school students and creative professionals and organizations. The network's objective is to provide a clear pathway for students to learn from the expertise of professionals at all stages of their careers.

Raphael Swingley

Raphael Swingley is an artist and photographer working primarily with film to capture quiet, quotidian, and often autobiographical moments. He recently completed his BFA thesis project titled "Arterial Waters", a project looking critically and honestly at the intersection of the manmade and natural around the Schuylkill River.

Joshua Mosley is Professor of Fine Arts in the Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania, where he directs the Penn Animation as Research Lab and teaches animation. His artwork integrates animation, music, sculpture, and interdisciplinary research, and has been widely exhibited.

Casey Lin is a creative who likes building things—stories, visuals, and systems. They work at the intersection of animation, design, and business, and are especially interested in how narrative and structure influence the way people interact with the world.

Zachary Vickers

Zachary Tyler Vickers is an award-winning writer and animator. He is the author of the short story collection Congratulations on Your Martyrdom! His screenwriting won Grand Prize at Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival and his animations have screened internationally as well as won awards like a Gold Remi at WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival. He holds two MFAs: one from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and another from Temple University's Film & Media Arts program.

Molly Danisavich

Molly Danisavich is an animator specializing in 2D and 3D Animation. She currently goes to Temple University and runs the animation club.

Cina He

Xinran (Cina) He is an artist and educator focused on film-based ethnographic research. She is a mentor at LensBright and currently pursuing a graduate degree in the Learning Sciences & Technologies program at Penn GSE.

Ejun Hong

Ejun Mary Hong is a Korean-Canadian storyteller who brings dreams and lost stories to life through her animated work. She is currently the Co-Founder and the Director of Programming of the LensBright Initiative. She has previously worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment (LA), the Walt Disney Family Museum (SF), and All Ages Productions (PA).

Frank Gladstone

    Julian Rivera is a Puerto Rican filmmaker who engages with his audience through touching stories and mixed media animations. He is currently finishing his senior thesis and degree in animation at Temple University.

    Linda Simensky

    Animation History Professor, Children’s Television Executive

    Linda Simensky teaches animation history at the University of Pennsylvania, writes about animation, and consults on character development and storytelling for television and apps. In the course of her career, Simensky has worked for Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, PBS KIDS, and Duolingo.
